Dear Cecil Touchon,

I'm the managing editor of Tupelo Press, which is a literary book publisher based in New England. We publish books of innovative poetry, fiction, and multi-genre combinations, and we use original art on our covers, with very high-quality production and good national distribution.

For one of our 2010 books of poems we are very interested in using one of your images for the cover.

What is the fee you generally request from publishers for a use of this kind?

Tupelo Press is a nonprofit organization, and contributions are tax deductible under the 501(c)3 statute. In some cases our cover artists have waived a portion of their usual fee in return of a donation credit, which we acknowledge with an official letter acceptable to the IRS.

I look forward to hearing from you about this possibility. I can easily send you several examples of recent Tupelo Press cover designs.

I'll leave this inquiry at several of your electronic "mailboxes" or kiosks.

Jim
